My mom came to visit me in Indianapolis this weekend. After a morning of running all over the city I wanted to take her to a little restaurant in BroadRipple, but a place I had not been before. We chose Petite Chou on Westfield Boulevard. The outdoor dining with chandeliers and green fabric draping the enclosed dining area was the perfect retreat. Enjoying a lavender infusion cocktail I realized this spot would be idela for a private dinner party. They offer a champagne bar, crepes, omelettes, and a full dinner menu as well. Petite Chou is part of the local Cafe Patachou restaurant brands in Indianapolis.

Several weeks ago a client hosted a costume party at her home on Halloween weekend. She wanted to have guests dress up but did not want a Halloween theme. So we decided to keep black and white colors, but use yellow instead of orange as the accent color. A signature yellow cocktail was served to guests and to stay within her budget a simple dessert table was created. Guests were given treats to take home with them as they left.

Rolls Royce Martini

6 parts gin
2 parts dry vermouth
2 parts sweet vermouth
1/4 teaspoon Benedictine

Combine ingredients in a cocktail shaker with cracked ice and shake well. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.

In honor of visiting San Antonio this week I chose a drink with tequila. My personal favorites are Patron Silver or Cabo Wabo.  Enjoy as it is going to be hot in Texas!

Catalina Margarita




  • 1 oz. Curacao, blue
  • 1 oz. Schnapps, peach
  • 1 1/2 oz. Tequila, white
  • 4 oz. Sour Mix

Glass to Use

Cocktail glass

Mixing Instructions

Shake ingredients in a cocktail shaker with cracked ice. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
