Instead of the normal New Year’s resolutions I am joining Emily Ayer in the 101 in 1001 challenge. Essentially I will be completing 101 tasks or personal goals in 1001 days. The reason for 1001 days is that it allows for ample planning and preparation for larger goals. Plus, I love crossing of items that I have set out to accomplish. Below are the details of the challenge courtesy of Miss Emily Ayer.
The Mission:
Complete 101 preset tasks in a period of 1001 days.
The Criteria:
Tasks must be specific (ie. no ambiguity in the wording) with a result that is either measurable or clearly defined. Tasks must also be realistic and stretching (ie. represent some amount of work on my part).
Why 1001 Days?
Many people have created lists in the past – frequently simple goals such as New Year’s resolutions. The key to beating procrastination is to set a deadline that is realistic. 1001 Days (about 2.75 years) is a better period of time than a year, because it allows you several seasons to complete the tasks, which is better for organizing and timing some tasks such as overseas trips or outdoor activities.
Start Date: January 1, 2011
End Date: September 28, 2013

I am really excited to hear the updates as you complete each goal. Hopefully I can be of some assistance to you in some. I’m so proud of you Ms. Jones. You’re my new little engine that could.
Sugar Maple cabins in Tennessee are fabulous!! I think your family would love going there…we saw a black bear last time we went.
This is awesome!!! I’m so proud of you, M, and excited for where this will take you!! Love you!
I was so inspired by Emily too! Keep us updated : )
Love, Mel! I will take that hot air balloon trip with you!
Hello! I found your blog through peach & pearl. I put a link list of 101 ‘inspirations’ and you’re on there! You can check it out here!

My favorites on your list are these two! And they just happen to be right next to each other:
84. Host birthday party for underprivileged children
85. Write thank you note weekly*
What a lovely thought!
In regards to number 4, see if you can find a orthodontist who carries Red, White, and Blue (assuming you’re a candidate for aligners). It’s like Invisalign, but actually costs the same as braces. I have to say, I’m soooo glad I went that route in high school instead of braces.
I love (and have in common) many of the items on your list and I’m excited to see how it goes! xx
Thanks for the tip Ellie! I will check out your list too!
I adore the way you have set out your goals – it’s really great and something I might steal for the next time around if you don’t mind.
Best of luck with all of the travelling – I have a travel bug myself
